Dear Tom, Edna and family,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Don. You have my deepest sympathy.

Some of my fondest memories of my childhood was with the Hay family. Whither it was visiting at your home or being included in camping trips, Don was that warm father figure who made me feel at home. As a youngster I really appreciated seeing Don at church and playing his saw. At a time in my life when my own father was hostile toward the church and at best tolerant, the strong positive influence of Don served as one of the anchors that helped form and stabilize my own faith.
